Controlled explosion carried out during security alert in Strabane

A controlled explosion has been carried out during a security alert in Strabane.
Army bomb experts were called to the scene in the Ballycolman area area of the town, following reports of a suspicious object in the early hours of this morning.
A number of elderly residents and young families in the area had to leave their homes due to the alert. The alert was soon declared a hoax.
