Finn Harps went to Galway and lost 1-0 in the the 2nd round of the EA Sports Cup on Monday.
The men from Connacht took the lead in the eighth minute through Vinny Faherty.
Jake Keegan’s effort hit the woodwork as Faherty tapped home the rebound from six yards to score the only games only goal and send Galway to the quarter finals.
Harps haven’t won now in their last six games.
Meanwhile Derry City got back to winning ways taking victory for the first time in five games beating Sligo Rovers 1-0 in the north west derby.
Rory Patterson who returned to the Derry squad in recent weeks took the captains armband and also scored the goal which puts Derry into the last eight.
Ramelton brothers Barry and Tony McNamee both started for Derry at the Showgrounds.
