Dunlop National Rally champions and leaders of the current campaign Declan and Brian Boyle have been forced to skip Sunday’s third round of the series, the Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow Rally.
The Donegal driver crashed out of the lead of the Killarney based Cartell.ie Rally of the Lakes on Sunday last and his Subaru WRC will not be ready in time to allow him to participate in Carlow, he will renew his bid to retain the Vard Memorial Trophy on the Rathkeale based Circuit of Munster on the first Sunday in June.
In the meantime, his nearest Dunlop challengers – Paddy McVeigh, Steve Wood, Tommy Doyle, Hugh Hunter and Roy White, all of whom are competing in Carlow, have an opportunity to maximise their respective championship bids.
