Sharp fall in number of planning permissions in Donegal

There was a drop of over 30 per cent in the number of planning permissions granted for new homes in the first quarter of the year.
The Central Statistics Office says 1,604 units got the green light in the first three months of 2014, down from 2,308 in the same period of 2013.
In Donegal, the total number of planning permissions granted in the first quarter fell by 122%, from 253 in 2013 to 114 between January and March of this year, with 35 new homes approved this year compared to 104 in 2013.
