McCartan steps away from Down role

James McCartan has stepped down from his role as Down football manager.
He had been in the role since 2009, leading his side to an All-Ireland final in 2010, where they were beaten by Cork.
Down were knocked out of this year’s championship by Kildare in Round 2B of the qualifiers two weeks ago.
They also lost to Tyrone in the Ulster Championship in May.
