Access to Sliabh Liag to be restricted during peak of tourist season

 Sliabh LeagueDespite it being the peak of the tourist season, one of the county’s biggest attractions is to close next week.
Donegal County Council says that in the interests of public safety access onto the walking trail on Sliabh Liag will be closed during the week commencing Monday.
The council says the closure is allow the delivery of stone by helicopter to carry out works to repair the existing trail.
During the delivery process access to Sliabh Liag will be blocked at Pilgrim Path car park, Shanbally One Man’s Pass at Ballymore and the 400metres North of Bunglas car park but there will be access to the car park and viewing platform.
The council says however that when the work starts or concludes could be effected by the weather.
Donegal County Council and Metro Building Contractors say they acknowledge and apologise for any disruption that may take place during these necessary delivery period.
The works are funded by Fáilte Ireland and Donegal County Council.
