Mac Lochlainn says LGH cancer patients may have to be referred to other hospitals

Concern is being expressed this morning that cancer patients using the Oncology Department at Letterkenny General Hospital may be referred to other hospitals because of medical staff shortages.
Donegal North East Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has written to hospital manager Sean Murphy seeking clarification on the issue, following discussions with what he has termed ‘informed’ sources close to the hospital.
Deputy Mac Lochlainn told Highland Radio News this morning that this is linked to wider concerns about whether Letterkenny General has the requisite numbers of medical registrars, NCHDs and consultants across the various departments to provide the required service to the people of Donegal.
He says he’s hoping for a positive response……………
