Silver and Bronze for Raphoe siblings in Rio

Chloe and Sam Magee will take home a Silver medal from the Brazil Grand Prix after losing Sunday’s mixed double’s final.
It was agony for the Raphoe pair as they had to settle for 2nd despite having match point against the number one seeds Max Schwenger and Carla Nelte of Germany.
The Irish number one partnership won the opening two games and had match point in the third game. The Germans showed great nerve to win the third game 11-10 and then took the next two to secure the Mixed doubles crown.
Sam Magee had also lost out the day before with his brother Joshua in the semi-final of the Men’s doubles against Max Schwenger and Josche Zurwonne of Germany. T
The Irish number one doubles player will have to settle for Silver and Bronze at this event.
