Update – Former Derry captain Kevin Mc Cloy in a stable condition after on pitch collapse

Former Derry gaelic football captain and All Star, Kevin Mc Cloy is still being treated in intensive care at Altnegelvin Hospital after collapsing while playing in a club championship match last evening..
The senior championship match in Owenbeg between McCloy’s Lavey and Magherafelt was abandoned after he was treated by paramedics.
In a statement this morning, Kevin’s family said he is stable, and currently undergoing assessment. Kevin’s wife and family are very grateful to those who are caring for him, and to all who have offered good wishes and prayers for Kevin. At this time they request that their privacy be respected.
Derry GAA Chairperson, John Keenan said today the thoughts of Derry GAA, its clubs and players are with Kevin McCloy, his family and all at Lavey GAA. He praised the players, match officials and stewards, and the medical teams of both clubs at Owenbeg for their swift actions in attending Kevin. He also acknowledged the swift response of the paramedics from Altnagelvin Hospital.

Statement from the family of Kevin McCloy:
 
“Kevin was taken ill on Wednesday evening, 13 August at Owenbeg GAA grounds.He received attention from the emergency services at the scene and was transferred to hospital where he is stable and currently undergoing assessment. Kevin’s wife and family are very grateful to those who are caring for Kevin and to all who have offered good wishes and prayers for Kevin. At this time they request that their privacy be respected.”
