Permission given for the increase in height of two windturbines in Moville

Wind TurbinesAn Bord Pleanala has given permission for the increase in height of two windturbines close to Moville despite permission being refused by Donegal County Council.
Declan Clarke succesfully appealed to the planning authority to increase the height of the turbines located at Crockbrack Hill.
Crockbrack Hill is 1 kilometre from the northern coast of the Inishowen Peninsula and approximately 9 kilometres due north of the village of Moville.
The council refused permission to increase the turbines tip height by 16 metres from 116 metres to 132 metres.
Almost 50 letters of objection had been submitted, a number of groups were also opposed to the height increase while representations were also made by Senator Brian O’Domhnaill.
But the planning authority says the development can go ahead as it is in line with guidlines issued by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government in 2006 on Wind Energy Development.
The site is also in an are ‘Area Open to Consideration’ for windfarm development in the county development plan and that the turbines would not devalue local property or damage scenic views.
