Derryman appears in court charged with Donegal robberies

muffrobb3A Derry man has been charged with robbing two service stations in Donegal last week.
Filling stations in Muff and Quigley’s Point were robbed during the attacks on Tuesday.
During the Muff robbery, the robber threated a member of staff with a large knife before making off in a van, which was later found abandoned in Derry.
The owner of the Muff business released CCTV images to the media in the wake of the robbery.
35-year-old John Paul Harkin, from Milldale Crescent in Derry, has appeared in court in connection with both robberies.
He was charged with robbery, including 1500 pounds from Texaco, Muff and 800 euro from the Point Service Station in Quigleys Point.
He was also charged with taking a motor vehicle without authority.
The alleged offences occurred last Tuesday. He is further charged with assault on police, disorderly behaviour, driving without a licence or insurance, possession of a class C drug, namely diazepam, and driving while unfit.
Harkin is also charged with burglary on January 9 and 10, and hijacking on December 16 last year.
He was remanded in custody and will appear again via videolink on September 11.
