Ireland’s Jason Smyth has won European gold.
The Paralymic gold medalist has won the men’s T-12 100 metres at the European Paralympic Championships in Swansea this afternoon.
Smyth who also has the 200m to come, cruised to a comfortable victory in a winning time of 10.78 seconds.
The Eglinton man has been reclassified from a T13 to a T12 athlete for these and future championships.
As a T12 athlete Smyth will be in a position to contest two medal events at the next Paralymic Games in Rio with a 100m and 200m on the programme where his old classification has been put back to one event.
