Three weather warnings are in effect across the country this morning.
An orange wind warning is in place for parts of the north and northwest with gusts of up to 130 kilometres an hour possible in coastal areas.
Met Eireann says the extremely windy weather is expected to continue until tomorrow morning.
A yellow alert for snow and ice is in place in Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo until midday today.
