Derry City cruised to a 3-0 win against ten-man Drogheda United thanks partly to two goals from Anthony Elding.
The striker, making his home debut, scored with a diving header early on and then he sealed the win for Derry from the penalty spot near the end.
Barry McNamee marked his 100th appearance for City with a super left-footed volley after Drogheda goalkeeper Michael Schlingermann found himself in no man’s land.
Drogheda finished the game with ten men after defender Jason Marks was sent off for a foul on Josh Daniels.
The win leaves Derry City on seven points from five games with a visit to Cork City next up for Peter Hutton’s men.
This was City’s first home league win.
Afterwards Peter Hutton spoke with Martin Holmes of Highland Radio.
Martin Holmes also spoke to City’s goalscorer Anthony Elding after the game.
