A Strabane man who was guilty of being disorderly in the A&E department of Altnagelvin Hospital was told today that normally that sort of behaviour ended up with a prison sentence.
59 year old Patrick Kelly of Townsend Street in Strabane admitted a series of offences that occurred on February 18.
The court heard that police were escorting prisoners to the hospital when Kelly approached them and began shouting at officers.
He then tried to push past the officers and was arrested.
He struggled with police after his arrest.
A defence solicitor told the court his client had been in the hospital receiving treatment for an injury and had no recollection of the incident.
He said Kelly had had issues with the police in the past but not any longer.
Deputy District Judge Peter King said normally this sort of behaviour would not be tolerated by the court.
He fined Kelly £400.
