A Donegal TD says initiatives to provide free GP care to people over 70 and under six may lead to a reduction in the overall quality of care if there are not enough doctors in the county to cope with the extra demand.
Deputy Thomas Pringle says there’s been a steady decline in the number if GPs in Donegal since the 1990s, with 48 available per 100,000 of the population, compared to 64 nationally.
He says the health infrastructure in the county must be improved…….
