The New Entrant Sports Scholarship has been introduced for the first time this year by the institute to recognize the sporting achievement of incoming full- time students and hopefully to assist further in their academic and sporting development while studying at the institute. The New Entrant Sports Scholarship programme will continue to be part of a developing aspect of LyIT’s Sports Department and will be available to all full-time ‘entry ‘ students studying in any of the full-time course in LyIT.
In addition to the New Entrant programme the institute also has a Sports Scholarship programme, which is open to all full -time students, will be advertised throughout the institute in the coming months. The Sports Scholarship programme has benefitted many aspiring young athletes in the past and assisted in maintaining a proper balance between studies and sporting progress at all levels.
The President, Paul Hannigan is delighted to welcome the New Entrant Sports Scholarship winners to the institute and hopes the €1,000 provided through the scheme to each of the 3 winning applicants will encourage more applications from next year’s student intake.
