Fianna Fail Election Candidate Pat the Cope Gallagher has called on the Government to seek EU support to put in place a comprehensive flood defence strategy for Donegal and further afield.
In Donegal alone, the OPW recently identified 28 specific risk areas for flooding.
Mr. Gallagher has identified various funding options for the Government to pursue including short term emergency aid through the EU Solidarity Fund and long term finance via the European Investment Bank.
