The Monte Carlo Rally starts the 2016 World Rally Championship later today.
Kris Meeke got his WRC campaign off to a great start in France yesterday, setting the fastest time at Shakedown
The Co Tyrone man drove his DS 3 World Rally Car through the 3.3km stage near Gap in 2m07.2sec, two-tenths quicker than his closest rival, Volkswagen’s defending world champion Sébastien Ogier. Dani Sordo was third, 3.4sec slower than Meeke in Hyundai’s all-new i20 WRC.
Drivers will head to Monte-Carlo this evenings start ceremony before the first competitive stage get underway after 7pm.
2016 will be a different year for Meek and co-driver Paul Nagle as they contest an unspecified number of European rounds driving for the Citroën-backed Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team while at the same time they will work with Citroën Racing to develop their all-new car that will be introduced in 2017.
