Donegal County Council has begun a review of the existing County Donegal Development Plan 2012- 2018.
The purpose of this Plan is to provide a strategic planning framework to guide development in the County over the next six years and beyond. The Development Plan, when adopted, will be a material consideration in making decisions on planning applications.
The new County Development Plan for Donegal will be a consolidated Plan for the entire functional area of Donegal County Council, including the former Town Council areas of Letterkenny, Buncrana and Bundoran.
The full statutory preparation process extends to two years. The first step in the process is this pre-draft consultation exercise. The Council is inviting submissions or observations regarding the preparation of the new Plan and a set of Issue Papers has been prepared to help assist individuals, groups and organisations in making a submission. The Issue Papers cover areas such as economic development, retail strategy & town centres, renewable energy, the natural, built & cultural heritage and infrastructure and roads. These papers are available at www.donegalcoco.ie .
A series of public drop-in events will also take place and Council Planning staff will be in attendance at these events to assist those who wish to make a submission and to deal with any queries.
