Donegal are set for a replay in the Ulster Championship semi-final next weekend, but manager Rory Gallagher suggested they should have held on for victory on Saturday.
The O’Donnell County were seconds from glory when they conceded a free from Monaghan player Conor McManus in the seventh minute of injury time to tie the match at Donegal 1-11 (14) v 0-14 (14) Monaghan.
Rory admitted afterwards that he was disappointed that Donegal did not close out the game, but praised Monaghan’s determination and vowed that his players will learn from the draw and will be ready to go again in a few days’ time.
The replay has been scheduled for next Saturday at 7pm in Breffni Park, Cavan.
