The Road Design Office in Donegal is reviewing the safety of the four lane approach road into Letterkenny, with a number of traffic surveys being analysed.
Once all the data has been assessed, a report will be prepared and considered by councillors at a special Letterkenny Municipal District workshop.
The matter was raised at last evening’s meeting by Councillor Gerry McMonagle. A number of councillors opposed the idea of a central reservation, suggesting a lower speed limit would reduce the number of crashes on the stretch.
However, Councillor McMonagle argues that in the event of an incident which closed one side of he road, a central divide is the only means by which a contraflow can be established………..
