Olympics preview: Irish boxers tipped for medal haul

Ireland’s boxers have delivered the most medals of any athletes for their country at the Olympic Games.
Eight boxers qualified for the 2016 Games, which is the 31st edition of the prestigious world famous competition, after travelling over 50,000 miles and across three continents to qualify for Rio.
It is the biggest group of Irish boxers at an Olympics and they have been tipped to win more Olympic medals than ever before.
The men’s boxing begins on August 6 for Paddy Barnes, Brendan Irvine, Michael Conlan, David Oliver Joyce, Steven Donnelly, Michael O’Reilly and Joe Ward.
The women’s boxing begins on August 12 for defending Olympic lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
