Derry held to a draw by St. Pat’s

Rory Patterson Derry CityIt was honours even at the Brandywell on Friday night when Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic played out a one-all draw.

Rory Patterson (pictured) scored the Derry goal in the tenth minute. A four man move involving Patterson, Schubert, Daniels and McNamee ended with Patterson controlling the ball by the Pat’s keeper.

Billy Dennehy weaved his way into the City box from the left hand side and curled a left foot shot just beyond the post in the 12th minute.
The equaliser came in the 23rd minute. Keith Tracey completed a four man move that saw Pats break from their own half and at pace get the ball up to the Derry box for Tracey to level.
Both sides tried to play football throughout the match and the Dublin side had not come just for a point.
Derry keeper Gerard Doherty made some excellent saves to keep St Pat’s out. He denied Billy Dennehy 16 minutes from time with a top class save just as he did in the early stages of the game.
A point was a fair result over the course of the evening.
