Ciaran Kilduff’s 89th minute header on Thuesday night saw Dundalk write another memorable chapter in the history of Irish football.
That late goal salvaged a 1-all draw for the Lilywhites at A-Z Alkmaar, in the process securing a first ever group stage point for an Irish side in Europe.
The result is all the more remarkable given that they did it with ten men after Stephen O’Donnell was dismissed 19-minutes from time.
Kilduff says the draw shouldn’t be viewed as a surprise….
That point also secures the club 120-thousand euro, which is more than they received for winning the Airtricity Premier Division.
