Donegal’s Richard Kerr had a mixed bag of results at round 10 of the British Superbike Championships at Donington Park at the weekend.
The 16 year old Kilmacrennan student qualified in 5th position and followed that up with a tremendous 3rd place in race 1 of the Moto3 class, several seconds behind the leaders.
It was Kerr’s second podium of the season on the NW Racing KTM machine and every race is still a learning curve for Richard as he still hasn’t found the set-up he wants.
Kerr had another great start in race 2 on Sunday and was in fourth position after the first 3 laps but was lapping near two seconds slower than Saturday’s times as the bike had some front end handling issues.
Dutch rider Jorel Borebome caught Richard on lap 7 and the two battled for a couple of laps but Richard came off the ktm exiting the foggy esses.
Not the end to the weekend the team were hoping for but they can now turn their attention to the next round in Holland in two weeks time at Assen.
