The importance of the A5 and link roads in the Republic were emphasised last evening when the Chief Executives and Mayors of four cross border councils addressed a meeting of the Good Friday Agreement Implementation Committee in Leinster House.
The delegation included representatives from the councils in Donegal, Derry and Strabane, Omagh and Enniskillen and Monaghan.
As well as discussing the need for the Irish government to follow through on its commitments to the A5, the delegation stressed the importance of the Letterkenny to Lifford link and the road from Aughnacloy to Monaghan.
Donegal County Council Caothairleach Cllr Terence Slowey says with the first meetiong of a new strategic partnership taking place next week, cross border cooperation is at a very important point.
