Flood-hit farmers neglected by political stalemate at Stormont – McCrossan

 

It’s been claimed that the lack of a political solution at Stormont is the stumbling block in awarding emergency funding to protect the agricultural sector in the North.
While August’s flooding caused significant devastation to the farming communities in Derry and Tyrone, the Permanent Secretary was unable to initiate an emergency fund due to the non-existence of a Northern Ireland Executive.
West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan says the farmers affected have lost a considerable amount of their livelihood through no fault of their own yet little is being done to help them:
