The Seanad has been told that the Leader programme may be one avenue by which funding could be secured to restore Swan park in Buncrana and Glenevin Waterfall in North Inishowen.
Junior Minister Jim Daly was responding to Senator Padraig Mac Lochlainn, who told the Seanad that he is hoping to meet with Community and Rural Affairs MInister Michael Ring and Chief Whip Deputy Joe Mc Hugh in the coming weeks.
MInister Daly said there are no appropriate government funding schemes currently open.
Senator Mac Lochlainn said Swan Park and Glenevin Waterfall cannot be regarded in the same way as other projects seeking funding.
He acknowledged the government’s initial response, but says the fear locally is that impetus is being lost……….
