€35 million of European peace programme funds is being made available to 350 schools in the border region.
The funding will enable the schools to participate in shared education on a cross-border and cross-community basis, reaching 140,000 pupils.
Foyle MLA Karen Mullan, has welcomed the announcement and says shared education can play a vital role in facilitating a culture of mutual understanding through ongoing and purposeful engagement in learning between children and young people from different community backgrounds.
