The Chairperson of the Good and New Charity Shop in Letterkenny says every cent which has been donated is receipted and banked, and that can be verified by their accountant and by Revenue.
Eamon Mc Devitt was speaking after the Sunday Times ran a story based on figures submitted to the Charity Regulator by the group, which operates a special bus service bringing cancer patients to hospital appointments in Galway.
The charity’s committee is to meet in special session on Wednesday to consider its response.
The story said that between 2015 and 2016, €815,000 was received, while €390,000 was spent.
