Kris Kristofferson announces four Irish dates

Kris Kristofferson returns to Ireland for four solo acoustic shows this June

Country music icon Kris Kristofferson will play intimate, acoustic gigs in Castlebar, Derry, Belfast and Dublin this June.
The American singer-songwriter will play the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on June 24, the Millennium Forum in Derry on June 25, Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on June 26 and Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on June 28.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am.
Kristofferson has spent three decades performing concerts all over the world, in most recent years in a solo acoustic setting, which he believes puts the focus on the songs.
“There’s an honesty in the sparseness. It feels like direct communication to the listener,” he said.
“I still have more fun when I’m with the band, but being alone is freer, somehow. It’s like being an old blues guy, just completely stripped away.”
The three-time Grammy winner has recorded 30 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings as part of the Highwaymen.
Kristofferson last played in Ireland in 2016 and donated €50,000 proceeds of his Dublin gig to the ISPCC’s Childline service.
The 81-year-old musician had already sold out two dates at the Olympia Theatre and added a third date especially to support Childline, a service which is close to his heart.
He also donated the box office takings of a Dublin gig in 2011 to the service.
