Man detained after fatal collision is released pending DPP file

A man who was questioned in connection with the death of a pedestrian following fatal collision in Bridgend on Saturday night has been released.
Just before midnight, two pedestrians walking towards Derry were struck by a car traveling in the opposite direction. One of them, Emmet Mc Clelland from Derry who was in his 20s, was later declared dead. The other escaped serious injury.
The driver on the car, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has now been released, and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Superintendent Eugene McGovern says two people alerted Gardai to the scene on Saturday and they are very keen to speak to them:
