Latest figures published by the Health and Safety Authority reveal that across Ireland from the period 2008 to 2017, 501 people were killed due to work activity, with many more seriously injured.
Of the total fatal accidents over the past 10 years, 28 occurred in Donegal with half of those deaths recorded in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector.
There has been a total of 28 work related deaths in Donegal since 2008.
14 of those occurred in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors, 9 of which were recorded in 2014 and 2015, 3 in 2010, one in 2011 and one in 2012.
Four people in Donegal died in fatal accidents in the construction industry during the 10 year period.
While two work related deaths occurred in the public administration and defence sectors.
Four deaths were related to work in the professional, scientific and technical activities sector and in the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the wholesale and retail trade sectors.
The arts, entertainment and recreation, water supply and manufacturing industries accounted for a further three deaths.
