DC&SDC back motion calling for backstop agreement to be retained

A Derry City & Strabane District Councillor says the only viable option on the table to prevent a hard border in Ireland, is the backstop arrangement agreed last year.
Councillor Dan Kelly put forward a motion calling for the backstop to be retained in the final Brexit agreement and for assurances to be sought from EU negotiators regarding the protection of rights for EU citizens.
However, he says the backstop does not resolve all problems in relation to the border.
