Leaving Cert failing to prepare students for university

The Leaving Cert is failing to prepare students properly for university studies.
That’s according to new research just released by DCU.
This survey published today by the Institute of Education at Dublin City University was carried out among over 300 first-year DCU students across a wide range of courses.
It shows just a quarter felt the Leaving Cert prepared them enough to interrogate and critically evaluate information or ideas.
Less than 24 per cent of respondents felt it got them ready enough to use technology to improve their learning.
While only 27% felt it prepared them well to compare information from different sources and just 30% felt the exam got them ready enough to explore ideas from a number of different perspectives.
