An Inishowen Councillor has welcomed a commitment from Irish Water that they will assess the Buncrana Wastewater Treatment Plant following reports of a foul odour in the town in recent times.
In response to a query from local Councillor Mickey Doherty, Irish Water says; the unusually hot weather of Summer 2018 resulted in an increase in odour concentrations emanating from the plant.
The utility says it will now assess the situation and upgrade or replace where necessary.
Councillor Doherty says he will continue to lobby Irish Water to ensure the necessary work is carried out:
