President Higgins has led the tributes following the death of Emma Mhic Mhathuna one of the victims of the cervical cancer controversy.
In a statement he says he sent his condolences to Emma’s family, friends and family in the wider community in West Kerry.
The Health Minister Simon Harris and the Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin are among the political leaders who have expressed their sadness.

The mother of five has passed away in Hospital in Tralee County Kerry.
In a statement today President Michael D Higgins said he was greatly saddened to hear that she had died.
and says he met her and her children in May, and was greatly struck by her poise and bravery, in the midst of what was a very difficult time for her family and friends.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says in her life, he said Emma did us all a huge service with her advocacy for the HPV vaccine.

Expressing his deep sadness Fianna Fail Leader Michael Martin said Emma was an incredibly brave and courageous person.
While, Sinn Fein Leader Mary Lou McDonald said Emma faced her illness with a resolve and courage that was an inspiration to all.
