
The Donegal Road Safety Working Group is predicting that over 3,000 second level students will attend its ‘Road Safe’ show over the next two days, 800 of them from Derry and Tyrone.
The show is based around a number of real incidents in the county, with graphic descriptions of the scenes from gardai and ambulance personnel, as well as powerful testimony from the mother of a young woman killed in a collision, and a man left in a wheelchair after a crash.
So far this year, 9 people have lost their lives on Donegal’s roads, and that is up on last year. However, Road Safety Officer Brian O’Donnell says overall, the numbers are down:
