Over €100,000 allocated to sports groups across Donegal


Over €100,000 has been allocated to sports groups across Donegal.
The funding for Local Sports Partnerships will go towards promoting sport and physical activity among people with disabilities, disadvantaged communities and people who are educationally disadvantaged.
Meanwhile, Scoil Naomh Padraig in Drumfires has secured funding for new special needs classrooms from the Department of Education.
€40,000 of funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund will be channelled through Local Sports Partnerships into specialist sports hubs in Stranorlar, Killybegs, Ballyshannon and €20,000 for Maghery.
€15,000 has been earmarked to support people who volunteer in disadvantaged communities or help people with disabilities to coach, referee or work as a community leader.
Finally, €30,000 will provide for people from disadvantaged communities through Urban Outdoor Adventure Hubs.
Meanhwile, two new Special Education classrooms are to be built at Scoil Naomh Padraig, Drumfires by funding allocated by the Department of Education under the Additional Accomodation programme.
