Change in law needed to tackle troublesome tenants – Harley

 
 

There are calls for a change in the law with regards the removal of housing tenants engaging in antisocial behaviour.
This week’s meeting of the Lifford Stranorlar Municipal District heard of a case in which a long term tenant requested to be relocated after a new tenant to the area caused disruption – breaking windows and damaging property.
Donegal County Council has confirmed that along with other agencies, they are investigating reports received in recent days.
Councillor Martin Harley says the current process means a troublesome tenant cannot be relocated for up to a year.
He says it is unacceptable that people are being forced out of their homes as a result of the actions of others:
