Minister accused of ‘not keeping the finger on tourism pulse’

 

A South Donegal TD has hit out at Tourism Minister Shane Ross, claiming he has not met with Tourism Ireland officials in 2019 at all, and has only done so five times since becoming a minister.
Deputy Mac Sharry says figures he has received show that 70% of tourist overnight stays are spent in five counties – Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kerry and Clare.
Deputy Mac Sharry says that, and the slowdown in visitor numbers recorded this week are among the issues that Minister Ross should be monitoring and discussing with officials.
However, he says that does not appear to be happening:
