Donegal to get grant aid to save Corncrake from extinction

 

The European Commission has awarded the government a grant of 4.3 million euro to save the Corncrake from extinction in Ireland.
Numbers of the birds have declined in rural Ireland by 85 percent since 1978.
The Government is adding an additional 1.6 million euro for conservation programmes in counties Donegal, Mayo and Galway.
