95 percent of Irish trawlers are now helping to clean up our seas by ‘Fishing for Litter.’
They collected 190 tonnes of marine debris last year and 422 tonnes since the voluntary initiative was introduced in 2015.
With nets, pots and ropes accounting for around 40 per cent of the litter, recycling schemes have been introduced at ports.
