Derry began their Christy Ring campaign with a 0-19 to 1-15 victory over Roscommon in Athleague.
The hosts lead 1-11 to eight points at the break but a strong comeback from the Oakleaf saw them claim victory.
Their next fixture will now be a home to Wicklow.
