Derry Police seeking witnesses following Guildhall Square attack last night

Police in Derry are investigating an assault that happened in the Magazine Street and Guildhall Square area of Derry City, in the early hours of this morning.

The PSNI say two men aged in their twenties were attacked by another man at 2am last night, with both men requiring hospital treatment after the attack.

One man received injuries to his knee and hand, and the other man sustained head and arm injuries.

Police in Derry are asking anyone who was in the Magazine Street and Guildhall Square areas of Derry last night around 2am, and may have witnessed the assault, to contact them.

Inspector Vince Redmond from the PSNI said: “We are working to establish what happened and why, and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Magazine Street/Guildhall Square area at around 2am and witnessed what occurred. I am also appealing to anyone who has information about what happened to call us on 101, quoting reference number 313 04/07/21.”
