Donegal County Council has confirmed that blockwork at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny is to be inspected, following unconfirmed reports of the presence of Mica.
Responding to queries from Highland Radio News, the council says following an assessment of cracking to the Flume Tower it was apparent that the blockwork in and around the cracking was of poor structural quality and unfit for purpose.
A decision was taken to remove all blockwork from the tower and reconstruct this outer leaf with new blockwork as a matter of urgency to address any public safety concerns.
