Hard road in Ulster leads Derry to All Ireland – Martin Boyle

Derry won the All Ireland Minor Football title for the fifth time on Sunday beating Kerry by a single point (2-12 to 1-14) in the decider played in Tullamore.

The win sees the Oak Leaf County bridge a 19 year gap since their previous win.

A mistake seen Kerry score a late goal to go 2 up but a penalty converted by Captain Matthew Downey secured Derry the title in dramatic fashion in the closing minutes.
