The Cabinet Sub Committee on Covid will meet today to discuss rising case numbers and hospital figures.
It comes as 1,491 new cases have been confirmed, the second highest number in over six months.
Latest figures show 193 people with the virus are being treated in hospital, including 28 in intensive care.
There are 6 infectious cases in Letterkenny University Hospital with one new case in the last 24 hours.
