Buncrana walk-in test centre records 30% positivity rate

The walk-in Covid-19 testing centre in Buncrana recorded a 30% positivity rate last week.

The HSE say the centre has been successful in detecting and containing cases of the virus but is urging people to continue to avail of the service.

The HSE first established the Pop-Up centre in the first week of July owing to concerns over an increase in cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Inishowen area.

They are encouraging people throughout the north of the County to avail of the temporary facility.

Dr. Aidan Ryan, HSE Specialist in Public Health Medicine says the Pop-Up centre has proven to be successful in detecting and containing cases of the virus.

He is encouraging anyone who thinks they may have contracted Covid-19 to avail of the service and says it’s vital people come forward to help identify those who are infected and infectious, but unaware that they might be spreading the virus.

People can avail of testing by booking their preferred appointment slot online or by Walk-In.

The test centre is located at Nailors Row Car Park behind Cockhill Health Centre, Buncrana and continues to operate from 11am to 7pm daily and is open to anyone who is symptomatic and asymptomatic.

Businesses in the area are being urged also to encourage staff to avail of the clinic.
